Low End Theory

Named after the groundbreaking 1991 Tribe Called Quest album, Low-End Theory is home to the Project Blowed crew. Incidentally, the Blowedians grew out of the Good Life Cafe, which I wrote about a few days ago.

Low-End Theory has its roots in Los Angeles, but it’s going global. It began in October 2006, at The Airliner in downtown Los Angeles, and has since spread to both San Francisco and Japan.

The schedule is as follows:

Los Angeles – every Wednesday night (18+)

San Francisco – the first Friday of every month (21+)

Japan – quarterly (Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Himeji)

Wednesday nights in Los Angeles, Low-End Theory features residents Daddy Kev, Nobody, Gaslamo Killer, D-Styles, and 2007 Scribble Jam champion Nocando. For those keeping track, that was the second-to-last year of true impromptu battle rap — before it turned into several weeks preparation, pre-written, A cappella. It basically went from UFC to WWE, and Nocando was one of the last champions of the real deal.

If you’re even remotely near any of the above locations, check out Low-End Theory for some raw Hip-Hop.…
